Birthed on the muddy banks of the Mississippi River, Calamity Kate arrived in this world breaking hearts, ankles, hips, and darn near anything around her. Raised feral outside the gates of LSU, Calamity didn’t have time for dresses, boys, hairbrushes or general hygiene. A lover of horses, Calamity recognized an untamed colt when she met Rusty Trigger and after a decade of observing his wild nature, she eventually let him close, roped him and then broke him. Although she still can’t get Rusty to clean his guns, she can occasionally get him to cut the grass. Calamity followed her heart and became a nurse and fell in love with taking care of children. Calamity loves horses, painting and growing flowers, herbs and vegetables (mostly of which feed the rabbits in her yard and not her family). Calamity eventually decided Rusty was worth marrying and the happy trail led her to the Dallas area. Proudly, Calamity is the mother of a soldier and the wife of a cop; however, she routinely blames both for the gray that she alleges is trying to push out the red in her hair.
